Four days after the end of its season, ASM, 8th in the Top 14 and not qualified for the final phase, announced the arrival of seven players. As has been rumored for several months, the Jaunards have signed two openers: Jules Plisson who arrives from Stade Rochelais (until 2024) and Anthony Belleau from Toulon (contract until 2025). Another Var arrival: Julien Hériteau, 27-year-old center (a selection with the XV of France), who signed until 2024.
Winger Bautista Delguy, Argentinian international (21 caps) who played this season at USAP after a stint at UBB, has also signed up with Clermont until 2025, as have the two Australians Irae Simone, center 26, and 27-year-old fullback Alex Newsome (both through 2024). Finally, Loïc Godener, third line of Stade Français, reinforces the pack with a contract until 2024.
These numerous arrivals will make it possible to compensate for the nine departures formalized by the Auvergne club, including those of Morgan Parra, Camille Lopez and Kotaro Matsushima.
“Recruitment is not over if we have other opportunities,” said President Jean-Michel Guillon during a press conference. The latter also assured that the Clermont club “would aim for the title of champion next season”, after “a result which does not satisfy us”, according to coach Jono Gibbes.
